By David Skilling & Danielle Boven - 17 Nov 2006
Overview
Increasing New Zealand's level of international economic activity is a vitally important part of enhancing the growth prospects of the New Zealand economy. A key part of achieving this is assisting New Zealand firms to access international markets. This report proposes three key elements of an external strategy for New Zealand that will strengthen international market access for New Zealand firms in the current global business environment.
The three proposed elements are: introducing an explicit outcomes focus into New Zealand's external strategy to give a clear sense of direction for business and government; including a much more deliberate regional focus, with particular attention being paid to the Asia Pacific; and making much more substantial investments in New Zealand's in-market presence to assist New Zealand firms to expand into these markets.
